The Debate Is Over

March 7, 2012

Quite frankly,
my husband would rather see this on our windows
 nothing, but not me.
He says "we didn't move to the country to have this"
  but I say, "not so"
He said "let's compromise"
I say, "No Problem"
So with the help of the Sahaj Ivory Curtains with jute from World Market, and 36 more inches of burlap that I attached to the bottom half of the panel
I made these
we settled the debate
Everyone is happy now!

  1. They look fabulous. Great job. Hugs, Marty

  2. Marty- just like me, our coffee/tea this early and reading blogs!
Thanks and have a great day!

  3. i loe those curtain! they look awesome with the added inches, too!

  4. Love the curtains but what I really wanna know is why you women are up so early? (smile). Unless you're waiting for the Ohio election results. Seriously though, love that owl pillow too!

  5. Looks fabulous!! Funny, you blog early and I bake. Blueberry muffins to go with that morning tea?

  6. Bravo Laura- these are gorgeous!!

  7. You may have started a new decorating trend. Of course, the hubby will have to get some of the credit now, too. :0)

    Great job!

  8. Very nice idea! Another reason my wall sconces, that seemed such a cool feature when we were building, are in the way!

  9. Love the curtains!!!! When did you start sewing. I wish I lived closer to you!!! Miss you!!!!

  10. LOVE! Love, love, love, love.

  11. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!

  12. Love these curtains!! I think you all made a fabulous compromise!

  13. I will admit that I have my fair share of bare windows in my house -- and I live in the city! But I worry about my limited natural light options ... so the neighbors probably are getting some TMI from our household ...

P.S. Your curtains look lovely! Great solution ...

  14. They are GORGEOUS, Laura. Great compromise. :) I'm a no curtain or simple white voile curtain kind of girl but I would hang these in a heart beat. LOVE the textures and the materials totally compliment that outdoor view.

  15. LOVE LOVE LOVE- What do husbands know anyway? You know cost Plus has the coolest curtains but they are way too short for our high ceilings. I love your idea with the burlap-it really does look awesome:) I would be so totally thrilled if you linked up at my party goin on all weekend!

    1. hey kim! these were so stinkin easy . Since I also a have a roman shade to block out sunlight , these curtains were the perfect "dressing" for the window. I will stop by. Thanks for coming to visit me. I hope you will be back!

  16. Love these. I really need to work on my "window treatments". :o)

  17. They dress it up just right. So pretty and the burlap looks great!

  18. Those are fantastic! I think they're the perfect match to a beautiful view from those windows!

    Visiting from TT&J~Rhonda @ home.made.

  19. Beautiful! I love how you hung them high, it makes your windows look so much taller. I had no idea WM even had curtains, so thank you because I will be headed there tomorrow :)

  20. I found you through Rooster and the Hen. I love these curtains! That's a great trick I use as well to add fabric to the bottom of curtains. I wish we had that store around where I live! Your blog looks like it has so many wonderful things to look at and great ideas. I'm a new Linky Follower

  21. I love what you've done to these curtains.

  22. The curtains look fabulous! I am linking up my own version this week at "Too Much Time on My Hands" but I really think yours are way cuter!! Have a great weekend!

  23. oh my WORD! those curtains are gorgeous!!! {i'm so glad you left a sweet comment on my blog this morning; i'm more inspired by the minute over here!!}

  24. I must get my husband on board with this! We do have UV shades on our west-facing windows which do an awesome job of cutting the heat and light that we get, but curtains are my next battle:)

  25. They look great! Beautiful compromise. Enjoy your day.

  26. I just love your owl pillow sitting in the chair. Do you remember where you purchased it? Great job on the curtains!
